Traveling by Land 🚗💨
If you love road trips, this one might be the most fun for you of them all! Bosnia and Herzegovina is full of diverse landscape: hills, rivers, lakes or mountains! When crossing borders from neighbouring countries, during peak season there might be traffic so make sure to count that in your travelling time.
Travelling in the country is popularly done by car or bus. Otherwise, railways are not used for the general population except for the Sarajevo-Mostar line that is also in the top 10 most beautiful train rides in Europe!
Počitelj – a small village passed by car on the road of Čapljina.
Visa Requirements 🛂
We are quite a welcoming nation, so it is only natural that we have one of the best visa policies in Europe. Citizens of the European Union, United Kingdom, United States and Canada do not need to have visas for entry. So is true for most countries of South America and also for citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Japan and China.
Best Time to Visit Bosnia and Herzegovina
How can you pick only one month to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina when you have 12 beautiful months to choose from! Jokes aside, the best time to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina is reliant on the type of activities you’d like to do while here. If you’d like to go river swimming, rafting or kayaking, then the best months to do so would be from June until October.
However, as Bosnia and Herzegovina is a mountainous country, skiing is a big part in lives of the local families. To visit our Olympic mountains for some winter fun, we recommend doing it from November until March, but naturally check the ski centre websites for current information on skiing conditions.
And finally, for hiking on our trails or biking, it can be done throughout the year. However, we recommend doing it in autumn months to see the seasonal changes.
